June 2019. A patternless kaftan. I have always used patterns to sew clothes. This was the first time I just followed instructions. (Sew News magazine June/July 2019 issue)

 January 2019. A tote made following instructions from the Jan/Feb issue of Sew News magazine.

April 2018. McCall's 7681 body-lined crepe dress.

December 2017. I made a complete set of bedding for my daughter's doll bed - mattress, fitted sheet, pillow, pillowcase, and quilt. 

May 2017. A warm robe for my daughter. Simplicity 1571.

April 2017. Crocheted coasters. I needed some coasters for our table on the porch. It took me a few tries to come up with a suitable pattern. I also sewed a fabric circle on the other side of the coaster.

August 2016. A mug rug for a friend. She is from Wyoming, so the Wyoming Valley quilt block sounded appropriate.

May 2016. Matching nightgowns for my daughter (Simplicity 1571) and her doll Isabel (McCall's 3627). 

April 2016. A tan skirt using Simplcity's pattern 1816. A picture of a very cute skirt I saw on Pinterest served as an inspiration for this skirt. My daughter likes ruffles, lace, and ribbon, so I added these embellishments. I altered the original pattern a little by lengthening the upper tier and shortening the middle one. I also sewed a layer of gathered tulle underneath the lower tier to give it more lift.

 July 2015. A headband. There are a lot of instructions for simple reversible headbands on Pinterest. I picked one of them, but instead of just using two different patterns of fabric, I decided to embroider one side. The embroidery pattern is from a 1973 Soviet era women's magazine.

 

April 2015. A softball uniform for Saara's doll Sadie. I used McCall's pattern 6904. The only adjustment I made was lengthening the pant legs. 

  

March 2015. A pretty hand-me-down dress Saara has for Easter was missing a decorative something in the front. There was a button that used to hold either a bow or a flower, but by the time the dress reached us, the accessory was lost. So, I used McCall's pattern 6763 to make this flower.

February 2015. A Hunter Star quilt for my son.  Pattern from Country Woman magazine.
