March 2019. Feathery headbands for my daughter's ballet class. They will be performing as swans at the recital in a few weeks. 

May 2018. Our piano bench looked rather miserable after the faux leather started peeling. It was time  to rejuvenate it with some cheerful fabric. Just some folding and stapling resulted in a pretty bench.

January 2018.  A candle wreath - two bunches of roses hotglued to a grapevine base.

April 2017. Crocheted coasters. I needed some coasters for our table on the porch. It took me a few tries to come up with a suitable pattern. I also sewed a fabric circle on the other side of the coaster.

August 2016. A mug rug for a friend. She is from Wyoming, so the Wyoming Valley quilt block sounded appropriate.

May 2015. A cross-stitched heart ornament. I stumbled over a prettiest heart shaped pillow ornament on Pinterest the other day. I loved the Texas flag idea and the patterns for each color of the flag. The photo on Pinterest did not lead to any instructions, so I took it upon myself to use the original as an inspiration. 

  

March 2015. A pretty hand-me-down dress Saara has for Easter was missing a decorative something in the front. There was a button that used to hold either a bow or a flower, but by the time the dress reached us, the accessory was lost. So, I used McCall's pattern 6763 to make this flower.

February 2015. A Hunter Star quilt for my son.  Pattern from Country Woman magazine.

 

January 2015. A little decoration for Valentine's Day: a stuffed hand-sewn heart and paper globe.

December 2014. A simple beaded Christmas ornament made from children's craft beads and wire. I found the star beading pattern online:  http://www.goldhobby.net/shema3.html

July 2014. More of the knotted bracelets. They are fast and fun to make. The ribbon ends, chain, and toggle clasps give the bracelets a more polished look.

July 2014. A bracelet knotted from leftover yarn. I found the instructions on Joann.com. The colors and the pattern of the stripes are based on the skirt of the national costume of the Vastseliina county in Estonia.

May 2014. A garden flag. The blue,black, and white stripes are the colors of the Estonian flag. I have wanted a garden flag like this for a long time to set out on Estonian holidays. Now I have one.

May 2014. Hexagon-shaped place mats.

January 2014. Valentine's Day bookmarks. Instead of sending greeting cards this year, we will be sending bookmarks as all the recipients are avid readers. I got the inspiration off Pinterest. The prints are standard wallet-size photos. After crafting both sides I laminated the bookmarks. It was a fun project to make.

June 2013. Patriotic dishcloths. Summer has been extremely busy this year and I have had no time to do any crafting. To keep my fingers from (craft)starving to oblivion, I knit up a few dishcloths in red, white, and blue. Just for fun.

March 2013. A knit baby blanket for a baby shower. I found the pattern on-line at Knitscribble.com

I also dressed up a plain gift bag with a tissue paper peony and a gift tag with punched layered tissue paper butterfly.

January 2013. Valentine's Day heart chain. I found the idea on Pinterest (again!) I was surprised to see, it actually turned out well and looks beautiful. 

January 2013. A fully lined sewing machine cover with two end pockets for Saara's sewing machine. I found patternless instructions for sewing quick and easy sewing machine cover for a normal size machine on Pinterest. I had to adjust the measurements a lot to fit the pint-size sewing machine, but it was still a quick and easy project.

 September 2012. A hair towel for my little girl. Saara's hair is growing and I decided it was time for her to have a proper hair towel. I used my old hair towel as a guide to cut out the pieces from a store bought bath towel. I had plenty of material left over for a new hair towel for me as well as a bath mitt and face cloths for Saara.
