September 2014. Knit hats for a Baby Hat Charity Drive.

April 2014. A long knit shawl made from Red Heart yarn Heart and Sole. The pattern originates from a 1975 Soviet magazine "The Soviet Woman" issued in Estonia (the magazine continues under the name "The Estonian Woman" these days). This is the most beautiful piece of knitting I have ever made.

December 2013. A knitted dress and a head band for Saara's new doll. This pretty Christmas present came wearing a flimsy summer dress (very cute though) and looked totally underdressed for our winter weather. So, out came the knitting needles and two nights later the new doll should feel much cozier around here now. I did not use any pattern, just did my best to follow the measurements of the original dress. And it worked!

The same with the headband - no pattern. I fiddled around until I was happy with the result.

June 2013. Patriotic dishcloths. Summer has been extremely busy this year and I have had no time to do any crafting. To keep my fingers from (craft)starving to oblivion, I knit up a few dishcloths in red, white, and blue. Just for fun.

March 2013. A knit baby blanket for a baby shower. I found the pattern on-line at Knitscribble.com

I also dressed up a plain gift bag with a tissue paper peony and a gift tag with punched layered tissue paper butterfly.

December 2012. Scarves for the families of Sandy Hook Elementary school. I was heartbroken when I heard of the tragedy that took place in Connecticut. I will always be. I responded to a call to make scarves, hats, etc. for the families of Sandy Hook. I am hoping, my little contribution will bring a bit of love and hope into this sad situation.

November 2012. A knitted sweater and denim pants for Saara's doll. It is another 'knock-off' project. 

It was much easier to embroider than to knit the snowflake motif.

 July 2012. A knit doll blanket. I got the inspiration from the American Girl catalog.

 May 2012. Knit bees. For three months the main character in my Sunday School lessons for the children was a bee called Bumble. For the last class, I made one bee for each student. I adjusted a pattern I found in the "Country Woman" magazine. I did use a bit different materials suggested in the magazine, though.

January 2012. My last project from the "Big Girl Little Girl" booklet. Knitted tunic for Saara from Red Heart's Shimmer yarn.

December 2011. Perfect Pinafore from Red Heart "Big Girl Little Girl". I am amazed at the perfect fit of this knitted piece. I love this pinafore. I got it ready just in time for Christmas.

August 2011. A shoulder shrug. I adjusted an old Bernat pattern I found on-line. I used Peaches and Cream cotton yarn. This was my first attempt to knit this kind of a shrug. I like it a lot and it is very comfortable. Next time, however, I will use a 3-ply yarn.

Here's the pattern for knitting with a 4-ply yarn (you will need 180 g or 6.3 oz) and size 7 needles (4.5 mm)

Cast on 73 sts.

1st row: *knit 1, yarn over, slip 2 stitches over knitwise, knit 1 and bring this stitch through the 2 slipped stitches (the middle stitch should be on the top of the other two), yarn over* Repeat this pattern (from * to *) until the end of the row and finish with knit 1 stitch.

2nd row: purl all stitches

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until the shrug measures 36 inches. Cast off.

Sew side edges together for 8 inches to form sleeves.
